About FRAMESHIFT COUNSELLING
I draw from a select set of therapeutic approaches along with elements of Cinema Therapy. During times of transition, stress, depression or anxiety, I calmly help individuals to navigate change and to make meaningful transformations in their lives. I work both online and in person.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) moves away from controlling thoughts towards taking helpful action. Narrative Therapy sheds new light on past experience to illuminate alternative paths forward. Transactional Analysis (TA) aims to improve interpersonal relationship patterns. A Person-Centred perspective ensures that this work is done collaboratively.
Reference to films (Cinema Therapy) may be considered for opening up conversations on challenging issues. Through my background in the film industry, I've developed a strong interest in a wide variety of life stories. This experience means I also have in-depth understanding of issues faced by those involved in the arts and creative industries.

practitioner Profile
I’m Richard Warden, a Canadian born and raised in Niagara Falls. I’ve lived in Scotland since 2009.
With an MSc Counselling from Abertay University, I’m a qualified counsellor and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Years as a film producer and as a programmer for mental health festivals have inspired an interest in using films to communicate life experiences.
- I’m open to viewing recommendations and to offering suggestions, while never insisting on this as part of the therapeutic process.
